Match #1. Nigel McGuinness vs. Bryan Danielson
Is Danielson cleared to wrestle? Is he here? Flight of the Conchords plays and… there’s no Bryan Danielson. Uh oh. Nigel grabs the mic and says the American Coward has dropped the ball, and he wants a ten count to declare him the winner. Wait. IT’S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN! Danielson is here and here we go, baby. Both guys trade wrist locks and reversals to start, as Danielson delivers a stiff forearm and we reset. Nigel delivers some palm strikes and backs Danielson into a corner, but Danielson returns fire with a HARD palm of his own. Slap by Nigel. European by Brian. Back and forth we go. Low leg kick by Danielson as Nigel feigns a low blow, but now both guys trade sweeps from full guard. Danielson with some ground and pound to the body. Nigel quickly focuses on the formerly-broken right arm of Danielson, pulling him to the outside and bouncing his arm off everything around the ring. Drop toe hold into the steel steps by Nigel, who tries to crush Danielson’s arm with the steps and narrowly misses. London Dungeon by Nigel back inside the ring, but Danielson scoots himself to the ropes. Danielson follows Nigel into the corner with a big boot and heads up top, but Nigel catches him. Nigel wants the Tower of London but Danielson lands on his feet and drills him with the Busaiku Knee! Danielson’s arm is hurting him and he can’t get the cover, so he settles for a bunch of YES kicks and a roundhouse kick to the head. Danielson whips Nigel into the corner and he does the handstand in the corner, with a few single leg kicks to the face of Danielson. Nigel flips over the back of Danielson and drills him with a lariat. Danielson backflips over Nigel and hits the ropes, firing off a European uppercut but Nigel rebounds off the middle rope and comes back with a lariat. VINTAGE MCGUINNESS! One count! Nigel goes to the eyes and hits the ripcord lariat and gets a long two count! Reverse suplex on to the top turnbuckle by Nigel… TOWER OF LONDON! ONE, TWO, NO! London Dungeon by Nigel with a bridge and it looks brutal, but Danielson flips over the back and delivers some hammer and anvil elbows! Danielson forced to go lefty due to the injury, and both guys are down. Nigel hits the ropes twice and connects with a knee that sends Danielson into the ropes, Danielson rebounds, and walks into a huge lariat from Nigel! Nigel collapses from exhaustion, conveniently into a Lebell Lock, but Danielson is struggling to get the grip. Hammer fists by Danielson and the Lebell Lock is in! Nigel looks like he’s going to tap and… he does!
Winner: Bryan Danielson
Rating: ****. I may be overrating it for nostalgia’s sake but I don’t care. This match ruled, Danielson is the greatest to ever do it, and Nigel looked fantastic in his return. Gimme more.
Danielson barely has a second to celebrate as Christian Cage’s music hits! Christian tries to sign the contract but Kip Sabian steals the pen and runs off, and Christian follows… but bails when he sees Claudio and Pac.
Match #2. FTW Championship: Hook (c) vs. Roderick Strong w/ The Kingdom
Inside trip by Hook, who looks for an arm triangle but Strong retreats to the outside. Hook follows and both guys brawl on the outside, until Strong throws Hook into the guardrail. Strong misses a kendo stick shot and Hook grabs it, laying into everyone on the outside. White Russian Leg Sweep by Hook into the guardrail! Another Russian Leg Sweep back inside the ring by Hook, but he holds on and locks in a modified Buggy Choke. Strong rolls Hook up for two and then delivers some elbows and a clothesline. Half-Camel Clutch by Strong as we go to commercial. Hook comes back with a t-bone suplex and a pair of clotheslines. Uchimata by Hook and a Northern Lights with a bridge for two. Hook looks for a top wrist lock and delivers some knees to the stomach. Taven throws a chair in the ring and Strong wedges it in the corner. Hook jumps on Strong’s back but Strong drives him into the chair in the corner. Running knee by Strong and a big mat return gets two. Strong sets up a pair of chairs in the ring and opens them up, facing each other. Hook hip tosses Strong through the chairs! Two count. Gut Buster by Strong on to the back of the chairs! Sick Kick by Strong gets two. Strong wants End of Heartache but Hook locks in the Redrum! Strong taps!
Winner and STILL FTW Champion: Hook
Rating: ***. Pretty quick, entertaining match here. Hook looked really good here, but why couldn’t Taven and Bennett just break up the submission attempt!? It’s FTW rules, bro.
After the match, Strong grabs Hook from behind and offers to shake his hand. Hook thinks about it and shakes, as do Taven and Bennett. Hook rolls to the outside and Tony Schiavone is here with a microphone. Back in 1998, only three miles from this arena at the Elk’s Lodge, the FTW Championship was born, and tonight… he’s still the champion. Hook says that all good things must come to an end, and on behalf of Hook, his family, and all the fans that ever supported the title. From this moment on, the FTW Championship is officially retired. Hook hugs his father, Taz, who’s clearly emotional, at the announce table. Very nice moment here.
Match #3. AEW World Tag Team Championship: The Young Bucks (c) vs. Kyle Fletcher & Will Ospreay
Don Callis has joined the commentary table. Double back elbows by The Bucks to Fletcher and here we go. Double hip toss by the United Empire (I’ll be doing that going forward for Fletcher and Ospreay). Ospreay moonsaults off of Fletchers back on to the Bucks who are on the mat north-south. Double corner moonsaults by the UE as we go to commercial. Bucks back in control as we return from break as Matt hits a backbreaker on Fletcher and Nicholas comes in from the apron with a leg drop. Fletcher sends the Bucks into each other and drops them with a DDT/neckbreaker combo. Ospreay gets the hot tag and comes off the ropes with a handspring back kick and a Skytwister Press to Matthew. Matthew ducks a Hidden Blade and comes back with a corkscrew kick. Superkick in the corner and an assisted Sliced Bread followed by a running knee. Two count. Matthew drapes Ospreay over the top rope and Nicholas sentons on to Ospreays back, as Matthew catches him in a powerbomb! Two count as Fletcher breaks it up, but gets dumped to the outside. NICHOLAS BREAKS IT UP AT TWO! Matthew sends Ospreay to the outside by Fletcher sends Matthew off the apron with a leg lariat. Tope suicida by Fletcher! Don Callis comes off of commentary and gives Fletcher a screwdriver. Fletcher thinks about using the screwdriver but Ospreay stops him, and gives the screwdriver to the referee. Matthew is here with a title to the face of Ospreay and Nicholas with one to Fletcher behind the referee’s back. Superkick party to Fletcher and the BTE Trigger finishes this one.
Winner and STILL AEW World Tag Team Champions: The Young Bucks
Rating: ****1/2. Just an absolute classic here. Fletcher and Ospreay are a fantastic tag team, to the surprise of no one. This was all action, innovative, had the fans on their feet.. it was just another classic that all four men involved are used to. The Fletcher/Ospreay brewing feud sure does have legs, too.
The Conglomeration is with Renee and Rocky Romero, but now Rocky is an official member. What can we expect from Collision? Mark Briscoe says Mark Briscoe stuff and it’s still great.
Tony Schiavone welcomes Prince Nana! Nana says there is nothing that can keep him down, but Swerve is not cleared to compete right now.
Ahem. MVP IS HERE! MVP agrees with Nana and says Swerve is the most dangerous man in AEW. Swerve is the most phenomenal talent to ever set foot in an AEW ring. MVP runs down Swerve’s accomplishments, but says he say Swerve lose his championship and his home burn to the ground. MVP wants to know why Hangman is still walking around smiling? MVP says that’s not a failure on Swerve, that’s a failure on his management. Swerve wants MVP to tell Swerve that he’s ready to talk… BUSINESS.
Jack Perry has issued an open challenge for the TNT Championship and his bus is shown driving through NYC.

Back in the ring, spinning sidewalk slam by May and a dropkick to the back of Yuka. Two count. Yuka counters May in the counter with a modified tarantula! Two count. Yuka then tries to disorient May with a rolling roll up, all around the ring, before eventually getting a two count. May counters a Merry Go Round with a big headbutt. High angle release German suplex by May gets two. Yuka ducks a running knee and delivers a superkick. Northern Lights Bomb by Yuka. Magical Girl Splash by Yuka but May gets the knees up! Regal Knee and a Storm Zero finish this one.
Winner and STILL AEW Women’s World Champion: Mariah May
Rating: **3/4. These two ladies didn’t get much time, but what we got was a lot of fun. Yuka wasn’t the strongest contender coming into this one, which is fine considering May needed an opponent that can give her a good match, and that’s what we got here.
May looks to hit Yuka with the belt, but Willow makes the save. Willow stares down May as Mina Shirakawa’s music hits! May hits Willow from behind and jumps in Mina’s arms, who still isn’t sure what to make of her friend’s actions.
Match #5. Jon Moxley w/ Marina Shafir vs. Darby Allin
Moxley blindsides Darby early and here we go. Moxley looks in great shape, by the way. Irish whip into the buckles and Darby is bleeding from the mouth. Moxley now makes Darby bite the rope and then kicks it into his face. Moxley body slams Darby into the ropes now, twice. Moxley whips Darby into the corner and he goes through the turnbuckles, hits the post, and then clips the steps on the way down! Brutal landing. Moxley follows to the outside and Darby is here with a shotgun dropkick. Pair of suicide dives by Darby now, and a Coffin Drop, as Moxley is slow to get up. Darby sets up a chair but Shafir distracts him, and Moxley body slams him hard on the apron. Moxley tries to rap Darby’s arm off around the ring post as we go to commercial. Moxley refocuses the attack on the arm and neck, locking in an STF in the middle of the ring. Moxley eventually lets go so he can throw Darby outside and beat on him some more. Moxley seemingly gets distracted by a “Bully Face Lagreca Heel” sign by someone in the front row. Hot take, bringing a sign to an event that has nothing to do with the show is incredibly cringe. Darby looks for a double leg and some ground and pound, but Moxley shrugs him off. Darby sets Moxley up on the chair on the outside and comes off the top with a dropkick! Back inside the ring, Code Red by Darby and a two count. Darby takes the turnbuckle pad off, but a shotgun dropkick by Moxley sends Darby into the turnbuckles on the far side and hard. Darby locks in a Fujiwara armbar out of nowhere. Marina pulls up the protective surface on the floor, and Moxley tells her that Darby asked for this. Moxley wants Death Rider on the floor but Darby flips out and sends Mox into the steel steps. Suicide dive by Darby but Moxley moves and Darby SPLATS on the floor. Wow. X-Plex by Moxley to Darby on the corner of the steps. Darby somehow makes it in before the ten count as the fans chant “you can’t kill him”. Moxley charges and Darby sidesteps, as Moxley eats the exposed turnbuckle! Long two count. Darby wants a Coffin Drop but Moxley shifts his hips and catches Darby in a rear naked choke, before transitioning into a bulldog choke. Darby looks unconscious but somehow grits his teeth and makes it to the bottom rope. Both guys on the top rope and Darby bites the head of Moxley. Marina gets on the apron and distracts Darby, as Moxley counters a superplex into an avalanche Deathrider! One, two, three!
Winner: Jon Moxley
Rating: ***3/4. Brutal, hard-hitting, violent stuff here in the main event. Darby doesn’t care about his wellbeing and Moxley doesn’t care about Darby’s wellbeing, and it showed here tonight.
Someone hits the ring and it’s Bryan Danielson, trying to choke Moxley out with a necktie! Marina, Claudio, and Pac are here to jump Danielson. Private Party now hit the ring to try and make the save, allowing Danielson to tease the Busaiku Knee on Moxley but Pac pulls him out of the ring. Danielson says Moxley wanted war, well, Danielson declares war. Here’s the thing. You want a shot at the title? You got it. And Danielson is going to KICK YOUR F’ING HEAD IN!
Final Thoughts: What an excellent professional wrestling show tonight. Great in ring, out of nowhere surprises, and storyline advancement. What more can you ask for in a two-hour show? Danielson and Moxley are on a collision course for WrestleDream, Willow Nightingale looks to be the next challenger for Mariah May, United Empire vs. The Bucks was a classic.. and so much more tonight. 9.5/10.
