Adam Copeland tells crazy story about Wayne Gretzky and Hulk Hogan

on

The legend of Hulk Hogan keeps growing. The Hulkster has been known to spin a tale tall from a kernel of truth. This latest yarn comes courtesy of Adam Copeland about a crazy coincidence with Wayne Gretzky during Christmas season.

Copeland discussed the scene to Renee Paquette on Close Up. Gretzky relayed a crazy story to Copeland when meeting at the NHL all-star game. Gretzky’s comical tale involved Christmas confusion with Hogan. Copeland explained:

“He (Gretzky) tells me this story when it was Christmas time, he’s in Beverly Hills, they valet the cars… So, he’s getting all of his Christmas presents, he hops in his car, he gets home, opens the trunk, and he’s like, “These aren’t my presents. What the hell just happened?” Hulk Hogan calls him and says, “Hey Wayne, we have exactly the same car. I have your presents.” So now Hulk Hogan and Wayne Gretzky have to meet up, exchange cars and presents, “Merry Christmas,” and off they go.”

Copeland was disappointed in himself not think to ask what type of car Gretzky and Hogan shared.

Gretzky confirmed that story himself telling his version to Theo Von on the podcast This Past Weekend.

“I got a great Hulk Hogan story People don’t know this, but Hulk used to live in Thousand Oaks, too. It was December 24 and we go to the Thousand Oaks Mall and I’m getting last-minute Christmas gifts for my kids who were at the time 10, 12, and 14. So I put them all in the car and they had valet parking at the mall. So I come out and put all my bags in the car and I drive home. I get a call around seven o’clock. [Hulk Hogan] goes, ‘Wayne?’ and I go, ‘Yeah.’ He says, ‘It’s Terry. We got a problem.’”

I go, ‘What’s the problem?’ He goes, ‘We we got the same exact car. I’ve got your car and your presents. You got my car and my presents.’ So I go outside and I’m like, ‘Oh my God.’ He goes, ‘Yeah, my kids are older. It’s probably not going to work. I’ll meet you halfway.’ So we drove back halfway together, we switched cars out, got the presents, and went home. True story.”

Hogan was asked about the incident by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated:

“It was a lot better for Gretzky. He had the more expensive gifts.”

“I didn’t want to give the car back. He had all the expensive stuff in his trunk, I had toys in mine. I thought the presents might save my first marriage, but I had to give the car back.”

That is wild, wacky stuff that could only happen to the Hulkster.
