Black Ops 6 Will Be On Game Pass At Launch

on

Microsoft confirmed today that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on the Game Pass subscription service when it’s released. This is the first time in history that a Call of Duty game will be available on the paid-for service – and the first that the franchise has been released on day one as part of a subscription platform. It was stated that it’ll be available on both Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, which means that PC players and console players will be able to take advantage of the offer.

It goes without saying, but on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Black Ops 6 will remain a full-priced, premium offering. Some are expecting that Microsoft will raise the price of Game Pass before Black Ops 6 is released, but others are confident that this will drive enough sign-ups to make it at least somewhat worthwhile. For some, it’s a bizarre decision, as this is poised to be ‘the best Call of Duty game’ in several years.

Black Ops 6 on Game Pass: CONFIRMED

On an Xbox Wire post, it was confirmed that Black Ops 6 is coming to Game Pass when it’s released – assumedly in October. The post simply read:

‘We’re excited to confirm that Game Pass members will be able to jump into Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6 on day one with Game Pass.’

Earlier today, Activision released a live-action reveal trailer for Black Ops 6, once again mentioning the upcoming showcase due to take place on June 9. In this short trailer, there are references to the Gulf War, including an appearance by Saddam Hussein. That’s been touted as a bold move by Activision Blizzard’s team, pulling in a real-world identity to potentially serve as a ‘big bad’ in a new Call of Duty game.

It’s a touchy enough subject without Activision Blizzard’s studios trying to rewrite history, so it’ll be interesting to see how they handle the topic of the first war in Iraq.

Presently, we don’t know much more about Black Ops 6 aside from the rough setting, era, and the fact that it’s coming to Game Pass. Within a little more than a week, we’ll have the full scope of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which might just end up being the most popular Call of Duty game ever. That’s going by early impressions and the general sentiment surrounding the game – the proof is, as always, in the pudding.
