Brody King’s very good response to Adam Copeland’s very bad news

Earlier today (May 28), Adam Copeland told the world that he fractured his tibia en route to beating Malakai Black in their Barbed Wire Steel Cage match at Double or Nothing this past Sunday night.

That set off the usual round of well wishes for Cope, and questions about whether AEW gives its performers too much leeway when it comes to their own creative and match layout.

It also created an opening for Malakai and the rest of the House of Black to turn their defeat into a victory. Copeland opened the door for it while announcing his injury, and Brody King is running with it.

First, he modified the most famous instance of “gloating about breaking an opponent’s leg” in wrestling history (Greg Valentine’s custom merch celebrating the broken leg Wahoo McDaniel suffered during their 1977 Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight championship feud for Jim Crockett Promotions):

It’s very DIY*, but we think The Hammer would approve. It’s not like his was professionally designed.

King also spelled out what will likely be (or should be) the House’s response to Copeland’s injury on AEW television, especially considering how the storyline leading into last weekend was how they were trying to bring out the WWE Hall of Famer’s dark side:

There’s no way losing someone like Copeland for what will probably at least be most of the rest of this year can be a good thing. But if it gives House of Black some momentum… maybe they do always win?

* “Do it yourself”, not the WWE tag team that uses that as their name.
