TEAM CANADA

The Canadian women opened their tournament against Chile. It was a very close back and forth matchup. It was deadlocked through half, but Chile secured the scoreboard advantage and played a tidy defensive game in the second half, limiting Canada’s attacking chances. Chile scored three quick goals in the fourth establishing an impossible lead. Canada’s Kenzie Girgis popped a late Canadian goal to give some momentum for the next match. Canada takes on Mexico tomorrow with a chance to pull to 1-1.

Canada’s men’s squad — the young bucks — took down Brazil in the 8pm prime time match. In front of a loud home crowd, Canada delivered a great performance. Robin Thind continues his scoring ways by potting another hat trick, leading the way to a 6-0 victory. It was a thorough start to the tournament. Canada takes on USA in a July 4th matchup. It should be an intense battle against a team with their back against the wall.
