Where do you think the Cowboys offense will finish in 2024?
At this point, multiple changes have already occurred on the Dallas Cowboys roster heading into 2024 compared to last season. While it will look different at times, the core talent of players on the roster expected to take the lead is of high quality. With top talent sprinkled throughout the offensive side of the ball, one could begin to wonder where they may stack up against their peers this season.
We examine the group and pose the question: Will if they will be a top-10 unit or fall short?
Is the Dallas Cowboys offense a top-10 unit?
The playmakers are known. With players such as Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Jake Ferguson set into the core of this season’s team, they have some serious firepower. This unit, led by the aforementioned names, will need to bear the load of the production if this group, and ultimately this team, is going to be successful this season.
Ultimately, we all understand statistics mean far less than wins, but having a baseline of numbers to strive for and use it as a measurement is always worthy of examination. Last season, this group finished in the top five across the league in total offense while being first in points scored, with 29.9 a game and 509 total.
They finished third in passing yards, behind only the Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins, while finishing 14th in rushing, proving that Prescott and the passing offense did much of the lifting last year.
While the loss of two starting offensive linemen, a running back and a veteran WR3 should be factored in, if their replacements are at least at acceptable levels, what should we expect in 2024? Thinking that they could finish inside the top-10 shouldn’t be far-fetched.
One could argue the only real loss from last season is left tackle Tyron Smith, with both Tyler Biadasz and Michael Gallup seemingly replaceable in every way. Tony Pollard’s absence leaves the running game unsettled, but it was already middle of the pack and this offense still flourished last year, so if it is similar or even slightly worse, is it not conceivable to think they still can be effective?
There are a lot of factors that go into a team’s statistical output, but when looking at the numbers, it shouldn’t shock anyone to see the Cowboys right back near the top league-wide offense in 2024.
