Slayton had been staying away

Darius Slayton was in attendance for New York Giants voluntary workouts on Tuesday. The on-field practice was apparently the first time Slayton has joined the team for any of this spring’s voluntary workouts.

Several of the photos released by the team from Tuesday’s OTA, the fourth of 10 scheduled on-field practices, were of Slayton catching passes or running drills.

In the final year of a two-year, $12 million contract ($6 million guaranteed), Slayton has been staying away from workouts in an apparent attempt to push the Giants to offer him a contract extension.

Slayton, 27, caught 50 passes for 770 yards and four touchdowns in 2023. He has surpasses 700 receiving yards in four of his five seasons as a Giant, leading the team in receiving yards in each of those four years.

Slayton has 220 receptions in five seasons with the Giants, an average of 44 per year. He can be a free agent at the end of the 2024 season if the Giants don’t sign him to a contract extension.

Remaining Practices

May 30-31, June 3-4, June 6-7, June 11-13 (mandatory mini-camp)
