Practice Report (6/3): Sideline view of OTA No. 7 | Giants.com
The secondary got into the act next, starting with Deonte Banks using his length to prevent a completion to Darius Slayton. Tre Hawkins nearly came up with an interception on a pass in the middle of the field, forcing an incompletion. Cor’Dale Flott ran with Slayton on a deep route and knocked the ball away.
The defensive front made some noise again. A defensive pressure package gave Brian Burns the opportunity to be a free runner to the quarterback, forcing a play to be blown dead. Tyler Nubin and Jalen Mills came free on a blitz that forced the ball to come out of the quarterback’s hand. Dexter Lawrence got through the middle to pressure a quick pass to Wan’Dale Robinson in the flat. Tomon Fox created a pressure late in practice that could have been a sack in a game situation.

Albert Breer: The New York Giants TRADING for Carolina Panthers edge rusher Brian Burns.
Going back to the middle of the 2022 season—when Carolina turned down first-round picks in ’24 and ’25, and a ’23 third-rounder for Burns at the trade deadline from the Los Angeles Rams—things were sideways for Burns in Charlotte. How could they not be? Negotiations were basically nonexistent from that point forward, the team was terrible, and Burns had to wait for his pot of gold. Because of all of that, the Giants landed him for a fraction (a second-rounder and a fifth-round pick swap) of what the Rams offered, and got him signed to a reasonable market contract (five years, $141 million) to play opposite Kayvon Thibodeaux. And they still had the second-rounder they got for Leonard Williams at last year’s deadline, along with a motivated 26-year-old edge rusher under contract for the next five years.

After years of being blitz-crazy under Wink Martindale, the Giants’ pass rush will rely mostly on their front four under new DC Shane Bowen.
NFC East burning questions for 2024: Daniel Jones have enough to succeed? | CBSSports.com
Malik Nabers was the right pick at No. 6 in the draft, giving Jones the best wide receiver he’s ever played with. Nabers should be Jones’ top target, as the Giants will pair him with Darius Slayton, 2022 second-round pick Wan’Dale Robinson and 2023 third-round pick Jalin Hyatt. Allen Robinson was also a free-agent signing. On paper, this pass-catching group may be the best Jones has had. Will it be enough for Jones to throw more than 20 touchdown passes in a season and have a passer rating over 95.0? Even if Jones gets those numbers, is that enough to keep his job if the Giants don’t win more than eight games? How Jones progresses with these playmakers will be the key toward his future with the organization.

1 Player Each NFL Team Should Consider Trading Before the 2024 Season | Bleacher Report
New York Giants, Darius Slayton. 2024 first-rounder Malik Nabers was drafted to be what Slayton has already shown he is not—a No. 1 receiver. Wan’Dale Robinson had 10 more catches in fewer targets last season. Jalin Hyatt is expected to take a step forward in his second season. The odds that Slayton leads the team in targets again are low, even with veteran tight end Darren Waller seemingly no longer in the picture. Add in that this is the final year of Slayton’s contract, and he’s potentially expendable—even for a New York offense for which wide receiver has been a weakness for years.
