How Do You Pull off Brawlhalla Combos?

on

Brawlhalla might be a platform fighter, but there’s still tons of potential to push this game to the highest level. Where that starts for a lot of players is Brawlhalla combos. Learning effective combos might be the main thing that separates a casual fighting game player from a decent one. The ability to chain together moves will instantly step up your gameplay.

Brawlhalla has tons of characters though. If you’re trying to dip your toes into the world of Brawlhalla combos, where do you start? Combos work a bit differently there than in traditional fighting game esports like Street Fighter. This is how they work, how you can do them, and where to get started with Brawlhalla Combos.

How Do Brawlhalla Combos Work?

What do we mean by Brawlhalla combos? Brawlhalla is a pretty different game, but its combos work similarly to what you’ll find anywhere else. It’s a way you can chain moves together so an opponent can’t escape them. You don’t just land one hit, but multiple hits over and over with your opponent being completely unable to escape. Suddenly you go from dealing out a little damage to a whole lot.

It isn’t all the same as other games though. Brawlhalla combos especially are different, even from other platform fighters than Smash Bros. Brawlhalla has weapon combos and character combos. Your sig attacks are special to characters, but weapons can be used with any character who uses that weapon. A character’s combos can include both moves, but it does mean combos you know for one character who uses a weapon can work with others.

Starting to learn combos in Brawlhalla begins with highlighting a weapon first. Then, you can learn their combos and move into integrating sig moves too. Just like with most Brawlhalla tips though, you’ll likely choose a character before learning their combos.

Combo Notation

Since fighting game combos are often long strings of text, most titles have notation. A fighting game glossary as a whole can help, but Brawlhalla has its own notation too. These are some of the key terms to understand Brawlhalla combos.

  • Light Attacks – Usually notated by their direction, then Light. Such dLIght, Down Light, or nLight Neutral Light
  • Air Attacks – Direction then Air, similar to Smash combos
  • GP – Ground Pound, or down heavy
  • Signature Attacks – Sigs
  • Gravity Cancel – GC, useful tech

Key Combos in Brawlhalla

Since we’re looking at combos between 14 weapons and over 60 characters, they are pretty numerous. These are some of the best-known that you can start up with to get the hang of them though.

These are just for weapons, with sigs there’s a lot more to think about. For those, it’s best to drill in per character though. Once they get involved combos can get much more effective. These are a great starting point before you start to incorporate sigs too though.
