How to get honeycomb in Minecraft

To get honeycomb in Minecraft, you need a few things. First, you have to find a bee nest. These spawn in the following biomes:

  • Meadow (100%)
  • Cherry Grove (5%)
  • Plains (5%)
  • Sunflower Plains (5%)
  • Mangrove Swamp (5%, 4% in Bedrock)
  • Flower Forest (2%, 3% in Bedrock)
  • Forest (0.2%, 0.035% in Bedrock)
  • Birch Forest (0.2%, 0.035% in Bedrock)
  • Old Growth Birch Forest (0.2%, 0.035% in Bedrock)

These will gradually fill up with honey. When they reach level five, i.e. maxed out, you need two items: shears and a campfire. The campfire must be placed directly under the honeycomb on the ground. This is technically optional, but doing so prevents the bees from getting angry when you steal their honey. After that, just shear the campfire, and you will get three honeycombs.

Alternatively, you can set the ground on fire with flint and steel. Additionally, using a dispenser with shears in it will drop the honeycombs as soon as the hive is full and won’t anger the bees even if you don’t have a fire. Honeycombs can then be used to wax all copper blocks, including the new Copper Bulb, or to prevent anyone from editing a sign that you’ve placed down. Bee nests can be transported if you have a Silk Touch axe, and you can create a farm for honeycombs.
