How to get the Candle Token in Dota 2 Crownfall Quest?

on

The Crownfall Update went live last month, so most Dota 2 players have gotten the opportunity to venture around the Crownfall Quest. As with most tryhard Dota 2 players, they have made it their mission to complete every mission on the Crownfall Quest’s Act 1. Yet, mysteriously, completing all fifty-three missions in Act 1 is currently impossible because the Candle Token is missing. Thus, here’s the complete guide on how to get the Candle Token in Dota 2.

What is the Candle Token in Dota 2?

For many Dota 2 players, it’s getting frustrating because of their inability to complete the entire Act 1, many even calling out Valve for the blatant bug. However, it seems that Valve actually has something in store for the continuation of Act 1.

For the uninitiated, the candle token is missing for the “Lost and Found” side quest, which coincidentally fits the current situation. Some players have even attempted to progress through the Overworld Map, where they found out that the “Always-closed Candlemaker’s Shop” may be key to solving this puzzle.

However, this encounter is still unavailable to most players, not because it’s behind a paywall, but it really seems like this is only available once Act 2 releases. Just in case, we bought the Midgate Pathfinder path to check if there’s any answer here, but we only got two additional side quests that offer bonus rewards, that’s it.

So, if your current progress is 52/53 missions complete, then fret not! Because it’s likely the maximum progression any player can achieve at the moment.

Is there a way to get the Candle Token illegally?

Dota 2 YouTube channel Fay Dota Stuff showed how to get the candle token via the developer console. However, as a disclaimer, he’s uncertain whether this method is even legal to perform because Dota 2 developers may flag this as cheating.

While we don’t recommend anyone to attempt such drastic measures, it’s good to understand whether the method works. It did not, but it comes with a rather interesting easter egg, plausibly hinting at a potential Dota 2 new hero leak: Eldor the Wizard. After getting the candle token via illegal means, progressing further into the cave will reveal a pop-up message quoting, “My name is Eldor the Wizard. This is my top secret room. Keep it between us, OK?

Thus, this seems like more than just a mere error message placed just in case a curious player like Fay, finds a way to reach this stage unofficially.

The Candlemaker Dota 2 new hero leak

With that, what started off as a bug report quickly turned into a rumor mill on what’s the next Dota 2 new hero leaks that could even be dropping alongside Ringmaster.

One popular theory takes us back to the initial New Frontiers Update’s artwork, whereby the Ringmaster’s ticket was hinted at. On top of the ticket was a candle, which most of us likely did not bat an eye on until recently. This has become quite an obvious link between the Ringmaster and the Candlemaker rather than just a mere coincidence.

Additionally, data miners also found more Candlemaker references throughout the Crownfall Update, such as the conversation dialogue between Dragonus (the Skywrath Mage), Shen, and the Candlemaker itself:

Dragonus: FINALLY. We’ve been waiting around ALL MONTH.
Candlemaker: Sorry about that. I was busy making this candle.
Shen: You only have one?
Candlemaker: The sign says CANDLEMAKER, not CANDLESMAKER. Anyway, here you go. I’m retiring.

Will the Candle Token release in Act 2?

This is going to be quite a stretch but hear us out. Everyone’s favorite Dota 2 ambassador, Wykrhm Reddy, recently tweeted about the same t-shirt he has been wearing even after 16 years.

Fans are quick to take this as a hidden message that the next update, presumably Act 2, will be released on 16 May. However, once again, the Dota 2 community is really going on a stretch here, so don’t get too excited about it.
