Is Wuthering Waves Multiplayer? How to Play

Wuthering Waves has a lot to offer players, but what if you don’t want to play alone? Any great game has some social aspects, and Wuthering Waves multiplayer could really spice things up. The combat, quests, and just generally living in this world could all be improved by jumping into Wuthering Waves with friends.

It isn’t a given that the title has multiplayer though. You might be wondering if you can have friends join you in Wuthering Waves and how much of the game is playable in multiplayer? This is how it works.

Does Wuthering Waves Have Multiplayer?

Yeah! Wuthering Waves does have a form of multiplayer. This isn’t a solo-experience-only game, you can jump in with friends to have a shared world. It isn’t quite as widely multiplayer as games like Genshin Impact. However, there’s a lot that players can do together. Multiplayer is a co-op mode here, rather than something competitive. It’s more about sharing the world and journey rather than going head-to-head.

Up to three more players can join a world. An entire group can take part in Wuthering Waves multiplayer this way. This mode isn’t available from the very beginning of the game though. Players will have to run through a few hoops first.

When Do You Unlock Multiplayer?

The game does feature multiplayer, but not from the very start. To get into things, you’ll need to get to a set level in the game first. To access Wuthering Waves Multiplayer, you will need to be on Level 22 first.

This level is tied to your progress and experience when playing the game. To get through to Level 22 as quickly as possible, you’ll want to focus on story quests. These are some of the best ways to get XP in-game. Once you get to Level 22, you’ll be able to access the multiplayer mode. Keep in mind things like crossplay aren’t as wide yet, since Wuthering Waves isn’t on PS5 or other consoles.

How to Play Wuthering Waves Multiplayer

Wuthering Waves can allow three people to join a world in a part of three. It isn’t a game with huge player counts, but that does fit the way multiplayer works here. Once you get to the right level, you can start up multiplayer by going into the Co-Op mode menu.

To get started, you’ll need to have players added as friends. This is part of the main menu in the game.

You’ll then be able to see your friends in-game, you can see them and there is a button with Apply to Join listed. Click that, and you can try to join a friend’s game. Once in, you can explore the world with up to two more players. In the same world, players can try to track down echoes together and join up to try and take down bosses. There are some limitations for Wuthering Waves multiplayer though.

What Can’t You Do?

Multiplayer covers a lot of the content in Wuthering Waves, but a few bits only work solo for now. The Tower of Adversity and Depths of Illusive Realm aren’t available in there so far. However, these could be added later. For now, the other parts of the game are all available in multiplayer! Since Wuthering Waves downloads have been so high, there are probably quite a few players you can join.
