Carlos Alcaraz finds admirers everywhere for the mix of innate talent and successes, combined with his young age. The 21st Spanish champion found one of his greatest admirers in John McEnroe. The former American tennis legend has shown that he has a deep respect for Carlos Alcaraz. In an interview with Eurosport, McEnroe explained how Carlitos is the best tennis player he has ever seen at his age.

“I love watching Carlos Alcaraz play. He is the best tennis player I have ever seen at his age. We need to follow him more in this tournament in the coming years. He plays great, even if sometimes he seems indecisive. When he lets it go straight it’s one of the best he’s ever seen. It’s a wonderful shot. When I was his age I also liked to have fun on the court. I would say that all his rivals like the attitude he has. It’s crazy how he handles the ups and downs. It’s very beautiful to see.

His greatest quality is being able to smile in moments of tension. I hope this can rub off on other players. I don’t think Carlos has low expectations. Novak Djokovic said he arrived with low expectations and high hopes. What does it mean for him? Lose in the final? For the best players the story is different. If Carlos is healthy, I would say he can beat anyone on any surface,” said McEnore.

A great compliment that comes from one of the players who made the history of this sport and that Alcaraz will certainly appreciate. The 21-year-old missed the Rome tournament to resolve forearm problems and will have an interesting third-round match against Sebastian Korda at Roland Garros.
