on

The Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by Aon, the first stop of the Italian Pro Tour 2024 – also included in the Alps Tour calendar, the third European circuit – was claimed by Mattia Comotti. At Appiano Gentile, in Lombardy, with a score of 195 (66 62 67, -15), he secured the all-Italian derby victory over Enrico Di Nitto, who finished 2nd with 196 (-14) after a close battle till the end. Frenchman Benjamin Kedochim finished 3rd at the La Pinetina Golf Club (par 70) with 199 (-11). Alessandro Radig also had a strong performance, finishing 4th with 200 (-10) and being the best amateur of the tournament.

For the Italians, it marks the third consecutive victory on the Alps Tour. Following Edoardo Raffaele Lipparelli’s win in Egypt at the New Giza Open, Gianmaria Rean Trinchero’s triumph in the Tunisian Open, Comotti, a 23-year-old from Cuneo, celebrated his first professional success. This victory represents Italy’s sixth win in the competition’s history. Prior champions include Andrea Perrino (2015), Stefano Pitoni (2016), Marco Crespi (2017), Guido Migliozzi (2018), Gregorio De Leo (2022), and now Comotti.

Lombardi, results

In between, there were three Spanish victories and one Dutch victory by Kiet Van der Weele in 2023.

Comotti’s win earned him €5,800 out of a total prize pool of €40,000 and allowed the Piedmontese, who turned professional in July 2023, to rise to sixth place in the Alps Tour order of merit. Edoardo Raffaele Lipparelli (6th with 202, -8 in Lombardy) still leads the rankings ahead of the Frenchmen Aymeric Laussot and Kedochim.

In fourth place on the money list is Di Nitto, ahead of Trinchero in fifth, and Comotti. Also in the Top 10 is Manfredi Manica, ranking ninth.

The Italian Pro Tour will return from September 19th to 22nd with the Italian Challenge Open. The event, also part of the Challenge Tour calendar, the second European circuit, will be held in Tuscany at the Argentario Golf Club, which will also host the Open d’Italia in 2025.
