July 3 in Chicago will include two semi-finals and Jeff Jarrett vs. a Wild Card entrant on what Tony Khan says will be ‘possibly one of the best AEW TV shows of all time’.

During his recent chat with Iridian Fierro on WGN Radio, AEW head honcho Tony Khan did more than talk about his dream television deal with Warner Bros Discovery. Khan also teased a big month of July for his promotion:

“I am going to aim to bring Chicago the best Dynamite we’ve ever done there and possibly one of the best AEW television shows of all time. And I don’t take that lightly or say that lightly. I have huge plans for the month of July, and it all starts at the Wintrust Arena, the very first show in July, the first show after Forbidden Door. It’s where we did the first Revolution. That building means so much to me…

“You won’t regret it. We’ve done a lot of shows there at the Wintrust Arena, pay-per-view television. It’s going to be some of the best stuff we’ve ever done. I promise you, don’t miss it. Next Wednesday, July 3, at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena, I would not steer you wrong. And I’m going to bring you the best event I possibly can next Wednesday.”

To that end, today (July 3) AEW announced next Wednesday’s episode will be their annual Beach Break-themed show. It will have three Owen Hart Tournament matches, including a quarterfinal between Jeff Jarrett & a “Wild Card” entrant that’s become even more highly anticipated since Jarrett’s excellent, emotional promo on Collision (and released in full online) about his friendship with the late Owen Hart and what competing in the tourney means to him.

We’ll also get two semifinal matches: one between PAC and the winner of the Forbidden Door quarterfinal between Bryan Danielson & NJPW’s Shingo Takagi, and what figures to be a deeply personal battle between former tag partners & friends Kris Statlander & Willow Nightingale.

What else does TK have up his sleeve? We’ll have to tune in (or show up if you’re in Chicagoland) to find out.
