The Way Champs Play is the first children’s book written by Naomi Osaka, a work that fits perfectly with the new life as a mother of the very strong Japanese girl. Naomi, who will return to the court in 2024, found her book while she was shopping with her daughter Shai at the Barnes and Noble bookstore. Osaka shared the photo via an Instagram story, writing: “Went to Barnes and Noble yesterday to get books for Shai and I saw my book.” The book was published on December 6, 2023, and it is the first editorial project of the Japanese tennis player. Upon the book’s release a year ago, Naomi wrote through an Instagram post: “I hope this book inspires kids to chase their dreams and encourages them to believe they can do anything they put their minds to. This book holds an extra special place in my heart as a portion of the proceeds will go to my foundation @playacademynaomi which works to support young girls in sport.”
Beyond editorial projects, Naomi is ready for the court!
In July Naomi Osaka became the mother of little Shai. The champion, after a year away from the tennis courts, is eager to return to competing and winning trophies. “I will definitely play a lot more tournaments than I have in the past. I think some people will be happy about it. I think this is because I don’t realize how the beginning of the year will go for me. At the very least I’ll prepare myself for a great season finale,” she said. Her coach Florian Zitzelsberger confirmed these words of hers, revealing the Japanese girl’s objectives: “The situation in which Osaka finds herself today is what makes working with her so stimulating. She wants to go back to being the best in the world, she wants to win Grand Slam tournaments. She gives me the impression of a balanced person who is comfortable in her own skin. She is down to earth, mature and embraces the beauty of motherhood,” he explained.
