Novak Djokovic reveals: ‘This thing says everything about his personality’

on

Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray were born in the same year one week apart. The two shared the field an infinite number of times even when they were not yet professional tennis players and, somehow, experienced a similar approach to the major tour.

The Serbian has matured before the Scottish and this has probably affected the constant desire shown by the three-time Slam champion to improve at all costs. Murray worked hard to get to the top and to the sound of incredible results he managed to re-enter the group of the strongest called “Big 4”.

The former number one player in the world tried until the last minute to play in singles at Wimbledon this year for the last time, but the back surgery a few days ago created other problems for his body, his leg in particular.

Djokovic has dedicated a beautiful message to his rival friend almost pushing him to tempt us again next year.

The beautiful message of Novak Djokovic

“Andy Murray’s retirement is very sad news for the tournament and for the tennis world, although I heard he will try to play doubles.

I hope you have another chance in singles at the next Wimbledon. Knowing him, I know you’ll try. His entire career was marked by resilience. He won three Slams and was the world’s number one.

The fact that he played Challengers on clay, the surface he prefers least, says it all about his personality,” said Novak Djokovic. “It’s an incredible inspiration for all players.

He doesn’t mind spending hours and hours training every day. Impeccable professional, his attitude and method are something to study. His willpower, which allows him to push himself to the limit even with an artificial hip, is a source of inspiration and should serve as an example for young athletes, especially when they begin to complain about this and that.

He has left an important mark in this sport, both on and off the field. Something tells me he will continue to try. He has earned the right to decide when to retire, he deserves it. I have no doubt that people would be happy if he decided to continue.”
