Thomas has allowed just seven sacks over the past two seasons

In the latest round of player rankings, Zoltán Buday of Pro Football Focus ranked the top 32 offensive tackles for 2024.

Representing the New York Giants is Andrew Thomas, who comes in 11th on the list.

Buday writes:

Another player whose 2023 season was impacted by injuries, Thomas was unable to replicate his terrific 2022 season as he played a career-low 576 snaps last year. However, his 90.3 overall grade in 2022 ranked third at the position, and he finished in the top 10 in pass-blocking grade last year even though it was a relatively down year for the Giants tackle.

Entering his fifth season, Thomas was drafted fourth overall by the Giants in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Giants needed a franchise left tackle, and Thomas rose to the occasion in just a few short years.

In 2022, Thomas, who stands at 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds, had his best season. He emerged as one of the most dominant tackles, allowing just three sacks, two QB hits, and committing only two penalties throughout the season.

The result was a second-team All-Pro selection and helping the Giants qualify for the playoffs for the time since 2016.

Heading into the 2023 training camp, Thomas signed a five-year, $117.5 million contract extension. The deal included a $67 million guarantee at signing, which set a new NFL record for an offensive lineman at the time.

Despite injuries affecting his 2023 season, the Georgia native only allowed four sacks, one QB hit, and two penalties over 10 games.

In free agency, the Giants signed former Raiders offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, who allowed just 28 pressures and six sacks in 86% of snaps played at right tackle.

Adding Eluemunor and having a healthy Thomas is expected to provide the Giants with a strong duo at both tackle positions.
