Former Intercontinental, United States & Speed champion Ricochet was said to have informed WWE in early June that he’d be leaving the company when his contract expired. An exact date wasn’t reported, but the usual outlets all agreed it was coming up soon.

WWE seemingly wrote Ricochet off television on the June 10 Raw, but the door was allegedly still open for another appearance or two. Even when fans noticed his profile had been moved to the Alumni section of WWE.com over the weekend, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp posted on X/Twitter that “word within the company was that he’s technically still under contract but is indeed leaving.”

Sapp has an update today (July 1) on Fightful Select, as he’s now learned that Ricochet’s contract expired at midnight. Furthermore, sources at AEW and WWE believe Ricochet will soon be signing with Tony Khan’s company.

Some fans anticipated Will Ospreay’s old New Japan rival could show up at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door last night, perhaps fueled by Ricochet’s posting a training video with the a Japanese expression meaning “do your best.”…

… but the timing of his WWE contract’s expiration made a debut on that show impossible.

Speaking of Ospreay, Sapp’s heard that AEW doesn’t plan to have Ricochet face the Brit in Wembley Stadium at All in… at least as of a couple weeks ago.

How long until Ricochet shows up in AEW? Khan has promised this Wednesday’s Beach Break edition of Dynamite will be “one of the best AEW television shows of all time”

Stay tuned.
