Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer claims that Becky Lynch is “taking an extended leave” from WWE. Becky is set to become a free agent this weekend, and Meltzer heard that she’s “looking for a long period of time out.”
- Regarding AEW’s ongoing negotiations for a new TV deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, Meltzer said, “The numbers that I hear would not be numbers that I would call disappointing.”
- WrestleVotes was told that “the partnership between WWE and TNA has been months in the making.” Furthermore, there are “tentative plans for additional superstars to make crossover appearances in due time. Both companies understand that a slow, thoughtful approach is the best way forward in the beginning stages.”
- According to Fightful Select, the controversial ending of GUNTHER’s win over Randy Orton at King and Queen of the Ring was not planned. Orton’s shoulder was not supposed to be off the mat during the final pinfall of the bout.
- The site also indicates that AEW had plans for Adam Cole and MJF to fight each other in late 2023, and there was a chance that Cole would win the world title. This never came to fruition due to the injury Cole suffered at Grand Slam.
- AEW star Bandido has been out of action since last June due to injury, but Meltzer said he should be back “right around now.”
