Serena Williams’ ex-coach tells thing Novak Djokovic made ‘completely dead’ in 2023

Coach Patrick Mouratoglou believes Novak Djokovic made the greatest of all-time debate “completely dead” with his accomplishments and records in 2023. In 2023, Djokovic broke and set a long list of records – he now owns the all-time Grand Slam record, the all-time Masters record, the all-time record for the most weeks spent at No 1 by a man or female, the most ATP Finals titles, the most Year-End No 1 awards, and he is also the oldest player to finish as the Year-End No 1.In the Slam race, 24-time champion Djokovic has two Majors than Nadal and he will finish with at least four more Majors than Roger Federer. “I think the famous debate about who is the GOAT, I guess, is completely dead now after this incredible year, three more Grand Slams, plus one final. He has the record almost everywhere of all–number of Masters 1000s, number of weeks No 1, number of Grand Slams–and he’s still playing, he’s still at the top,” Mouratoglou said on Tennis Majors’ Eye of the Coach.

Nadal admitted that Djokovic is the GOAT

Following Djokovic’s win in the US Open final over Daniil Medvedev for his 24th Grand Slam title, Nadal declared the Serb as “the best in history.” “I believe that numbers are numbers and statistics are statistics and, in that sense, I think he has better numbers than mine and that is indisputable. I think that with respect to titles, Djokovic is the best in history and there is nothing to discuss in that,” Nadal told Diario AS in September. At this year’s Paris Masters, Djokovic commented on Nadal’s statement. “I’m proud if Nadal said [there were no debate on who is the greatest, it was the journalist’s question], but I’m not the one having to talk about that. I have to focus on my goals and my greatest pride is to still be able to compete at this level,” Djokovic said
