Undrafted defensive back Robert Javier will attempt to push for a 53-man roster spot. What are his chances?

The Tennessee Titans officially agreed to terms with 16 undrafted free agents following the conclusion of the 2024 NFL Draft. All of them participated in this weekend’s rookie minicamp. Cornerback Robert Javier is a small-school player that has my intrigue.

Javier joins the Titans after two very productive seasons at Towson. He totaled 26 pass breakups and six interceptions across 2022 and 2023. Javier was named a Second Team All-CAA selection. Ironically, he’s the first Towson cornerback to be All-CAA since former Titans defensive back Tye Smith earned the honor in 2014.

Javier wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine, but he posted solid measurables and testing results at Towson’s Pro Day. The 5-foot-11, 193 pound Javier displayed terrific play strength with 16 reps on the bench press. He also leaped outstanding vertical (38.5 inches) and broad jump (10-foot-4) results. Javier ran a 4.57 40 with a solid 20-yard split (2.58). Javier also ran quality results in the shuttle (4.10) and 3-cone (6.96). With a Relative Athletic Score of 8.33, Javier is among the best athletes the Titans signed in undrafted free agency.

The Titans have three outstanding corners on the roster in Chido Awuzie, L’Jarius Sneed, and Roger McCreary, but there is competition for back-end roster spots. The Titans had veteran cornerback William Jackson III at rookie minicamp, but haven’t indicated they plan on adding Jackson to the roster just yet. Fifth-round rookie Jarvis Brownlee Jr. will have a role, but the rest is to be determined.

Javier is one of four defensive backs the Titans signed in undrafted free agency, so there’s a ton of players vying for a few spots. Former undrafted free agents Tre Avery, Eric Garror, Tay Gowan, and Anthony Kendall are also on the roster. Pairing Javier’s history of production with his athleticism indicates he may impress the coaching staff throughout training camp.
