This is the UFC 303 live blog for Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka 2, the main event light heavyweight title fight on Saturday in Las Vegas.
One of only nine people to win UFC titles in two different weight classes, Pereira entered that exclusive club by knocking Prochazka out at UFC 295 to claim the light heavyweight belt. Since then, “Poatan” defended his title with a first-round knockout of former champion Jamahal Hill at UFC 300, and now puts his strap on the line on short notice to save the International Fight Week card after Conor McGregor pulled out just two weeks ago.
A former UFC light heavyweight champion, Prochazka won the title from Pereira’s coach Glover Teixeira in the 2022 Fight of the Year. A shoulder injury and extended layoff led to Prochazka vacating the title, and his return to the cage against Pereira didn’t go his way. Since then, Prochazka rebounded with a knockout win over Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 300. Now he hopes to get revenge on the only man to beat him in UFC.
