Valve Publishes a New ‘Steam Deck Top Played’ Leaderboard

on

If you ever wondered what the most popular Steam deck games are, Valve now has you covered. Recently, the tech titan published a fresh leaderboard that details the top 100 games on Steam Deck, allowing you to select a time range and see what’s pulling in the most players on the iconic handheld device. Since February 2022, the Steam Deck has dominated the handheld gaming market, with other manufacturers like Asus, MSI, and Lenovo trying to get in on the action.

Some surprising titles have made their way into the top 100, but for the most part, the most-played Steam Deck games are pretty predictable. Sitting at the top of the top of the table for the last week is Elden Ring, with players flooding the platform to play the recently released Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Behind that sits Stardew Valley, one of the best-selling ‘cosy’ games ever made.

What Are The Most Popular Steam Deck Games?

The Steam Deck is a fantastic device that’s improving over time, with Valve having already tweaked the base device and pushed fresher models to the market. While the original model was a sell-out device, the latest OLED version had much more stock available, being released in November 2023 and effectively making the original model obsolete. It’s one of the most capable and dependable handheld gaming devices in the business right now, but what games are people playing the most on their Steam Decks?

In the last month (at the time of writing), the top ten games on Steam Deck have been:

  1. Elden Ring
  2. Stardew Valley
  3. Hades II
  4. Balatro
  5. Fallout 4
  6. Baldur’s Gate 3
  7. Hades
  8. Diablo IV
  9. Dave the Diver
  10. Vampire Survivors

It’s a fantastic selection of games. Hades II had an early access period shadowdropped a little more than a month ago, and Balatro has proven to be one of the best indie games of the last year or so. Fallout 4 runs perfectly on the Steam Deck and has enjoyed rampant popularity since the Fallout TV show was released on April 9. Baldur’s Gate 3 remains a stalwart title sitting high up in the Steam player charts, and Hades and Diablo IV are consistent and well-optimised for the device.

Dave the Diver and Vampire Survivors are both award-winning indie games with plenty to offer, so it makes sense that they’d find a spot on this list.

Further down the list (but not too far) sits Grand Theft Auto 5, Cyberpunk 2077, and Red Dead Redemption 2, which is indicative of the Steam Deck’s processing power. Skyrim, Ghost of Tsushima, and Forza Horizon 5 all enjoy a place in the top 25 Steam Deck games, presenting the diversity that the platform offers. Way down at the bottom of the scale sits Subnautica, Rocket League, and God of War, among many other games.

Almost all of the top 100 titles are Steam Deck Verified and run brilliantly on the device. It’s a veritable feast of games, and it’s partly why the Steam Deck has been so successful since being released in 2022. Other units like the Asus ROG Ally might try and compete, but can any of them touch the top spot?
