It’s the second annual youth camp for the star Seahawks receiver in Oxford.

Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver DK Metcalf is Oxford, Mississippi through and through. He was born in Oxford, went to Oxford High School, and became a top NFL Draft prospect after three seasons at Ole Miss.

This past Saturday, Metcalf held his second annual free youth football camp in his hometown. Over 100 children of all ages participated in drills and races, with Metcalf only signing autographs and taking pictures with the kids afterward.

Metcalf’s goal is to teach the youngsters valuable lessons on and off the field, as he explained to WTVA’s Sami Kostas.

“Teaching them a foundation,” Metcalf said. “Mainly how I grew up, you know, mainly the disciplines of ‘yes sir, no sir,’ so being respectful to elders and just teaching them that listening and taking these steps or these lessons that they learn here and applying it to the rest of their lives. And one day they’ll grow up to be young, great men that the world can look up to.”

You love to see it. I wonder if one of the drills involved chasing down a cornerback to prevent a pick-6.

Metcalf wasn’t the only Seahawks receiver playing the role of instructor. Jaxon Smith-Njigba recently visited Nigeria as part of the NFL Africa Program. You can read more about the league’s football talent identification camp here.
