What Do Camels Eat in Minecraft?

on

Camels in Minecraft are a relatively new mob. They’re also fairly uncommon spawns, so players might not know what to do with one when they find it. Like almost all mobs, they can be used in various ways. That includes being bred and attracted. If you find a camel and don’t have a saddle or you want to breed them, rest assured. There’s one item you can use.

What Camels Eat in Minecraft

Camels eat cactus in Minecraft. If you give one camel one cactus block, they will enter love mode. If a second camel is also put into love mode, it will produce a baby camel. The growth rate for baby camels can be reduced by feeding them a cactus block. Adult camels have a five-minute cooldown before they can enter love mode again. This is not, however, the way you tame them. A lot of mobs are tamed and bred with similar items, but not camels.

To tame a camel, place a saddle on it. It won’t follow you around like a tamed wolf or cat would, but you can then ride it. Camels are unique in that two players can ride them at once. Additionally, this mob stands two blocks tall instead of one. All other riding mobs are shorter, so there is a bit of protection on a camel. Alternatively, you can place them on a lead or in a fence to keep them around much like a horse.

Camels spawn exclusively in Minecraft desert villages. They cannot be found anywhere else, so you will need to be a little lucky to find one. Even in vast deserts, they’ll only be in the village. Fortunately, they spawn in the center of every single desert village, so if there’s a village, there is a camel as well.
