Sometimes life throws you a curve ball and sometimes life throws you a fastball directly at your skull. Less than three weeks away from The Showcase of the Immortals, replacing your WWE Champion with another live body would not be ideal.
After not working any house shows last weekend and running an injury angle at WWE’s Madison Square Garden show last Friday night, rumors began to surface that AJ Styles was trying to work through or overcome an injury.
Speaking with French news outlet Catch-Newz, Triple H gave an official medical update on Styles and he did not sound very confident.
“You always have to have a plan B and just in case you have a plan C. We try to have in mind what would happen. AJ is an incredible performer and saying ‘we would replace AJ Styles’ would be very difficult. Not necessarily a replaceable talent but we would do our best.”
Triple H continued
”AJ is working diligently on rehabbing his injuries and getting himself in tip top shape for WrestleMania. We are trying to help him with that process in getting the best care and the best rehab and everything else possible. We’re hoping for the best. Right now, he says he’s feeling a lot better and we’ll be ready to go. Obviously we’ll get him doctors to make sure that he is ready to go and get him medical clearance if that’s possible, but he’s working very hard at it and hoping for the best.”
The WrestleMania 34 pay-per-view (PPV) on Sun., April 8, 2018, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Styles already commented on his injury, but what a wrestler wants and what the WWE medical staff finds do not always line up.
With Mania only 18 days away, the WWE would have to react pretty quickly if Styles cannot go versus Shinsuke Nakamura.
