Paul Heyman has struck a deal with Roy Bank’s Banca Studio to produce unscripted shows across multiple platforms – away from the WWE and Brock Lesnar.
His marketing agency, Looking 4 Larry, now has a studio and with Mitchell Stuart (business partner) they have struck a long-term deal.
Speaking to The Wrap, Heyman revealed more details on the project:
“Against my strenuous objection, Roy Bank has decided our first collaborative project will be centered around me.
“I have come to the educated conclusion Roy has made this decision based on a desire when pitching from the network that we learn how to deal with rejection.”
The news has started speculation amongst wrestling fans as to the future of the iconic personality and the man he advocates, Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar is widely expected to move back to the UFC once his contract expires after WrestleMania, with the 40-year-old seeing it as one last chance to make some serious money before he retires.
Heyman’s contract is also up and he has stated he would only be interested in staying if he were to be paired with Ronda Rousey or Brock’s WrestleMania opponent, Roman Reigns.
Could we see a double turn in New Orleans?
Reigns receiving help from Heyman to win the WWE Universal Title would turn the challenger heel, and be a big shock to the fans, with Vince McMahon trying unsuccessfully to make him the babyface star of the company for the last three years.
To keep hold of Heyman, who is one of the best talkers (if not the best) in the world of wrestling, they would need to give him an incentive. Being involved in one of the biggest U-turns in modern WWE history could be just that.
As for his new business partner, Bank is an accomplished producer of reality TV, with ‘Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader’ being the most well known show in his portfolio.
Although not revealing too much on the show, they have said it will “straddle the line between talk, opinion, comedy and pop culture – all with the one-of-a-kind Paul Heyman brand and energy as a driving force.”
