We knew about some of the other matches on the card for Greatest Royal Rumble, the show WWE is putting together for April 27 to launch their new partnership with the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia. This morning (April 2), they started to reveal names of wrestlers who will enter the match which gives the event its name – a 50 man battle royal.
And they’re some intriguing ones. For starters, we have Daniel Bryan in what – based on his currently announced bookings – will be his second match back from retirement after WrestleMania 34. Then there’s Braun Strowman and Kane, iconic monsters from different eras, and Bray Wyatt, who might be working a Woken Matt Hardy-influenced gimmick by late April.
The final name included in this announcement is Big Show, who has been out since fall of 2017 after a steel cage match with Strowman on Raw was used to write him off television for hip surgery.
Only 45 more to go!
The battle royal is joined by seven title bouts on the card, and Triple H vs. John Cena. There still have been no definite announcements about broadcasting the event for fans who can’t get to Jeddah’s King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, but Jerry Lawler has said he and Jim Ross would be calling it, so the expectation is that it will be available on WWE Network at some point, but that hasn’t been confirmed by the company.
