In an update on former WWE superstar Rey Mysterio joining the Lucha Underground promotion, Rey was backstage at the season finale and while he didn’t appear on-screen or in any capacity on the show, he is expected to be the promotion’s top name for their second season, which everyone at the finale was told would be happening.

As of writing, the plan is for the second season to run for 39 weeks with a short break. Lucha Underground’s EP Eric van Wagenen will be working closely with Mark Burnett on The Apprentice for the next few months, which is potentially the reason for the programming gap.
