Our very own David Fenichel released a story yesterday about Saudi Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi who has been missing for well over a week, and who Turkish officials allege was killed on site of the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut (home of WWE offices) has already spoken out about condemning anyone with a working relationship with Saudi Arabia during this investigation, especially when it was reported early this morning by CNN that Turkish authorities have audio and visual evidence of Khashoggi’s murder. According to a source familiar with the ongoing case, the footage shows an assault and a struggle inside the consulate, as well as the moment that the journalist was killed.
In the meantime, WWE has released a brief statement addressing the ongoing events:
We are currently monitoring the situation.
Their Crown Jewel show taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is still scheduled to happen at this time.
We will keep you updated.
