Following UFC 231’s epic conclusion between Max Holloway and Brian Ortega, president Dana White answered some questions regarding the once promised showdown between WWE Universal champion Brock Lesnar, and UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. In his response, White reveals that Brock may have signed a new WWE extension, and that his ace, Cormier, is currently dealing with an injury. This extension would not prohibit Brock from fighting in the octagon, but when that fight could happen remains up in the air.
DANA WHITE: I don’t know. One of the guys that I met with yesterday during PR told me that he had heard that Brock Lesnar signed a bunch of new WWE deals.
INTERVIEWER: Does it preclude him from fighting in the UFC?
DANA WHITE: No it doesn’t. It does not. So we’ll see…Daniel Cormier is hurt, so it doesn’t matter right now. … Daniel is hurt. He’s out for a while. I don’t know what Brock is doing but as Daniel starts to get better and we start looking at dates that Cormier might defend his title, I’ll be calling Brock or somebody at 205 (pounds) because Daniel told me he still wants to fight at 205. He wants to fight there.
