According to Sports Illustrated, the current plan for WrestleMania 35 is to have Ronda Rousey defend the Raw women’s championship against Becky Lynch in the main event at MetLife. This would be the first time in the history of the WWE that a women’s match headlined the biggest show of the year.
There is still speculation that Charlotte Flair may be added to the matchup according to the Wrestling Observer, but WWE Hall of Fame commentator Jim Ross believes that would be a huge disservice, stating that Rousey and Lynch are a better fit to go on last than even Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar in the most recent episode of his Ross Report podcast.
To me, it’s the right thing to do. It would be a damn shame to miss this opportunity. It’s time to let Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey go out and make history. By the time the main event rolls around, that audience will have been at WrestleMania for hours. But they will still have more of an emotional investment than they would in any other match, and that is including Lesnar and Rollins, who will no doubt have a great match.
Stay tuned.
