In honor of WWE’s new annual holiday, “Austin 3:16 Day” on March 16th, Hollywood big-shot and WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson posted a statement reflecting back on his relationship with WWE Hall Of Famer and namesake of the new holiday, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
The Rock took to social media on Saturday to post a video of himself taking a “Stone Cold Stunner” from “The Texas Rattlesnake” during WWE’s infamous “Attitude Era.”
Along with the clip was a statement about “Austin 3:16 Day” and his working relationship with Austin as the top heel and babyface in WWE more than 20 years ago.
“As the top bad guy in the wrestling business, I had two jobs,” wrote The Rock via his official Instagram page on Saturday evening. “[One] was to make sure the top good guy – Stone Cold [Steve Austin] always looked like a KING, and [two], to ALWAYS make the audience go f*cking bananas and send them home happy [and] buzzing.
“Even if it meant getting hit with the iconic ‘Stone Cold Stunner’ while getting my bell rung and still trying to drink my beer, me and this bald headed SOB help set attendance records in every arena across the country.”
The Rock continued, “A unique time when pro wrestling was on straight fire. In honor of 3:16 DAY, I salute you my friend. Thanks for the incredible and fun memories and for taking this punk kid under your wing. All love [and] respect. #316DAY #SnakesAndBullsh*t.”
