New England Patriots superstar Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement from the NFL after nine seasons today. Gronkowski is good friends with WWE superstar Mojo Rawley and even had a physical role in his Andre the Giant Memorial battle royal win several years ago. There has long been speculation that Gronkowski could make a transition into the WWE once his NFL career ended.
Both the WWE and Rawley took to social media to congratulate Gronkowski on his career and retirement:
Congrats to my brother @RobGronkowski on retirement. Best to ever play the position in @NFL history. Proud of your career and even more proud to be your friend.
It’s about to get really wild now. The best is yet to come!

Jonathan Coachman responded to several Twitter users who speculated on the WWE signing Gronk. Coachman believes that a lot would depend on how much Gronk was willing to work as it is difficult to obtain part timer status in the WWE. Additionally, he agreed with a Twitter user who thinks that he needs to be paired with Mojo Rawley immediately. He also dispelled the notion that Gronk hasn’t earned a spot in the WWE. Here are the Tweets from The Coach:
The biggest problem would be how much would he want to work. Part time performers are few and far between. But he has the chops to do it for sure. https://t.co/mZk0l2ZBX2

Makes a lot of sense. I think @MojoRawleyWWE has huge potential if given the opportunity for more than a minute. https://t.co/0OdGS42o0F

Gronk has great timing. It’s possible. If any player has the ability to cross over right now it’s Gronk. Plus he is really easy to get along with. Have worked with him many times. https://t.co/tAaiepOIfg

EARNING his way is WAY overrated. This is not the major leagues or NFL. This is entertainment and if he can perform at this level then it doesn’t matter who it was someone will always have a problem. Only so many spots. You take one if offered. https://t.co/n5EDTf7r7J

Lastly, it appears that Gronk’s WWE potential is so great that even The Coach and Corey Graves can agree on it:
Holy smokes. You do realize that was a public tweet? https://t.co/1MNR4MzUxY
