There’s been a lot of talk and speculation on why RAW’s Alexa Bliss is challenging SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley at the WWE Stomping Grounds PPV.

Furthermore, there has also been a lot of talk on why WWE would throw Bliss into a top feud, for a championship match, right as she’s coming back from another concussion.

Bryan Alvarez discussed Bliss vs. Bayley and Bliss’ history of concussions during the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live today.

“I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure there has been at least three [concussions for Bliss] this year, and I’m pretty sure these were not the first three [she’s suffered]. The reason this bothers me is, the way WWE does their concussion and injury protocol is, you’re cleared or you’re not cleared.”

Alvarez continued, “So, if you’re not cleared, you don’t do anything, but if you get cleared, even if you’re coming off a massive concussion, then you’re all in. If they want you in a ladder match, you’re in a ladder match, if they want you in a TLC match, you’re in a TLC match, and to me this is ridiculous. Like, if she’s coming off a major injury then maybe she shouldn’t be wrestling right now. I realize it says ‘cleared’ but to me it’s not a pass or fail [situation]. It’s like, if you’re cleared, maybe we should ease into this whole wrestling thing, but that’s not the way they do things, and I think that should change.”

Bliss has missed a lot of ring time over the past few years, due to concussions and issues related to those concussions. It will be interesting to see if she can make it through this feud with Bayley and stay healthy.
