One of the biggest stories from last night’s AEW Fyter Fest was the unprotected chair shot to the head of Cody Rhodes, which resulted in 12-stitches, following his time-limit draw with Darby Allin. It was later stated by the Young Bucks in a post-show scrum interview that the chair used by Shawn Spears was gimmicked, but something went wrong leading to Rhodes getting busted open.
According to photos from Pro Wrestling Sheet, the bottom of the backrest caught Rhodes during the attack, slicing him open.
During the post-Fyter Fest media scrum it was stated that the chair Cody got hit in the head with was “gimmicked,” but something must have gone wrong.
Based on these screengrabs, it appears as though he got hit in the back of the head with the bottom of backrest by accident. pic.twitter.com/iy0Lmz32eW
