It looks like The Undertaker has himself a dance-partner for WWE’s biggest event of the summer.
According to local advertising, “The Dead Man” will be standing across the ring from a certain “Scottish Psychopath” when this year’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view comes to Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Sunday, August 11th.
The local ads in the Toronto market are listing The Undertaker vs. Drew McIntyre as one of the featured matches at the WWE SummerSlam event on 8/11.
The Undertaker will team with Roman Reigns in a tag-team match against McIntyre and Shane McMahon at this Sunday’s WWE Extreme Rules PPV at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, so it would make sense from a booking standpoint that the two would splinter off into their own singles rivalry.
As noted, Dave Meltzer (@DaveMeltzerWON) reported in a recent issue of his Wrestling Observer Newsletter that The Undertaker personally requested to work with McIntyre when discussing plans with WWE officials for his return to the ring earlier this year.
It’s also worth noting that the decision for Undertaker to stick around after WWE Extreme Rules has been part of the plan since he returned, as his new WWE contract calls for a specific amount of appearances and matches per year.
Speaking of the WWE Extreme Rules show, which will be available on pay-per-view and will stream live via the WWE Network, featured below is a look at the current advertised lineup heading into this Sunday:
