As noted, Mickie James underwent successful surgery to repair her right ACL on Tuesday. The operation was done by Dr. Jeffrey Dugas in Birmingham, Alabama. She suffered the injury back on June 1 at a WWE live event in Waco, TX, while wrestling Carmella.
Mickie spoke with her website about the injury and surgery this week, and said she knew she was injured as soon as it happened.
“From the very moment of impact, I knew something was wrong. I hoped against all odds that it wasn’t a serious injury, but it was that bad,” James said. “I don’t fault Carmella. She has always been a professional.”
“I’ve been very lucky to avoid major injuries in the past; but eventually, everyone’s luck runs out in the ring. After 20 years, I guess mine did,” she said.
The website confirmed the reports on James being out of action for 9 months. She said she won’t be sitting around, and will be taking advantage of opportunities to get “intimate and interactive” with her fans.
“You’re going to see me doing things I haven’t been able to do in ages,” James said. “We’re talking fan expos and conventions, more music performances and, of course, appearances with WWE.”
