Former WWE Champion Batista took to Twitter this week and lashed out at a tweet from Alex Del Barrio, who used to do announcing for the WWE NXT brand as Alex Reyes.

The exchange began when one fan apologized to The Animal for ever booing him at a wrestling event, because the fan thinks he’s “an awesome human being” now. Batista accepted that apology. Del Barrio then responded and mentioned the “Blue-tista” jokes from his 2014 run.

Del Barrio wrote, “I apologize too, except for the Blue-tista chant. That was funny.”

Batista fired back, “Six guys put their health on the line in a violent match. Three guys use their success to make three newer guys bigger stars. The finale of a great program.Smart marks focus on me wearing blue and start the Bluetista chant. Which is all people remember.Yeah hysterical.”

Del Barrio, who began working for WWE in November 2015 after working for WWE Hall of Famer Booker T at his Reality of Wrestling promotion but was then released by WWE in May 2016, responded under his original reply and wrote, “I mean weren’t you working heel that night?”

Del Barrio then made another response under Batista’s tweet, recalling how they met at the Royal Rumble, but telling him to lighten up.

Alex wrote, “We even met at the Rumble when I was working with the company. Figured you could take a joke, I’m sorry if it’s a sore subject.. I’m just having fun on here. If you’re offended I apologize… but lighten up man. I didn’t attack you I just thought the chant was funny”

Batista was referring to the six-man Elimination Match between Evolution (Triple H, Randy Orton, himself) and The Shield (Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose) at the 2014 WWE Payback pay-per-view, which The Shield won. Batista wore blue ring gear that night and this led to the “Blue-tista” jokes trending on social media.
