There have been a lot of online rumors on WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin returning to the ring at the October 31 WWE Crown Jewel event from Saudi Arabia, but that ring return is not currently scheduled to happen, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
It was noted that while Austin is now considering one more match, he is not currently booked for Crown Jewel, and that is not expected to change.
A Crown Jewel payday for Stone Cold could be huge as WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg is believed to have received $2 million for his WWE Super ShowDown match with The Undertaker earlier this year in the Kingdom, but the Observer reports that there is nothing to the rumors right now.
Austin retired in 2003 and has received multiple big-money offers. He reportedly considered at least one offer, but the return has obviously never happened. However, none of the offers have been what Austin could make from a Saudi payday.
As noted last month, PodcastOne issued a press release to promote a recent episode of The Steve Austin Show podcast and touted how Austin said he could have one more match.
“For the last couple of weeks, down there at the RAW reunion in Tampa, down there at the Madison Square Garden show at Monday Night RAW – people always ask me, ‘Hey man, you’re still in really good shape. You got one more match left in you?’ And I tell them, ‘Man.’ I say, ‘You know, it’s a tough thing to think about.’ Physically, would I be able to have one more match? Yes, most definitely, and I could make it to that match without being injured. Although the risks are always there, just because I think all of the surgeries, I had… where I had the spinal stenosis, and getting that bone spur taken off my spinal cord – I’m in a good place. Nerves are feeling a lot better than they use to. So, you know, in theory, could I have a match? In theory, yes,” Austin said.
The Rattlesnake is set to return to WWE TV on tonight’s SmackDown FOX premiere for the blue brand 20th anniversary festivities.
