As the WWE Royal Rumble 2017 approaches, theories about who will enter the match and who will win it are plentiful. As soon as Goldberg announced he was the first entrant for the match, bettors began to back him as the favorite to win it. Over the past weeks, that opinion changed when another legendary star, The Undertaker, announced he was joining the match as well. That made him favorite to win the match, but now there are some rumors as to which superstars might toss “The Deadman” out of the ring, preventing his victory at the huge pay-per-view in Texas.
In a previous WWE Royal Rumble report here at The Inquisitr, the possibility of John Cena taking on Samoa Joe at WrestleMania 33 was discussed. Right now, there are rumors continuing to say that Joe could show up to make his main roster debut at next Sunday’s big pay-per-view. There have also been reports about speculation that Joe, a former NXT Champion, will be involved in a major match at WrestleMania in several months. Could all of that lead to a big elimination by Joe in the Rumble? Or will another superstar possibly cost Taker the win?
So who might eliminate Undertaker from the Royal Rumble in San Antonio? According to WWE Leaks, Samoa Joe is now a 2 to 1 favorite on the betting odds at one sportsbook. Next on the list is that Undertaker actually wins the match, which has odds of 3 to 1. Braun Strowman and Finn Balor are next up, at 4 to 1 odds to eliminate Taker from the match. One who imagine that if any of these stars are the one to cost Taker his victory, it would set up something big down the line. The Undertaker has always been a fixture at WrestleMania, and although his undefeated streak was snapped several Manias ago, it’s always entertaining to see him on the “grandest stage of them all.”
As of this report, of the superstars mentioned, only Braun Strowman is actually listed amongst Royal Rumble match competitors. Samoa Joe has been mentioned in growing rumors over the past weeks that he’ll debut in the Royal Rumble. As for Finn Balor, he’s been out of action due to injury since winning the Universal Title at SummerSlam. However, there have also been rumors that Balor could be a surprise entrant in this year’s field of 30 in San Antonio. Having Balor eliminate “The Deadman” could lead to an interesting match down the road between Taker and “The Demon,” but seems less likely than WWE setting up something involving Taker and Strowman, or Taker and Samoa Joe.
