AEW Executive Vice President Kenny Omega was stopped while entering Japan last weekend for the DDT Ultimate Party 2019 event.
This is the third time Omega has been stopped while entering Japan since he left New Japan Pro Wrestling earlier this year, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Word is that something happened where there was an attempt to get Omega banned from going to Japan for 10 years.
Omega did make it into the country once again, like he has before, and he was able to work. The Observer adds that Omega was very bitter about NJPW and there was also a cryptic tweet about NJPW from AEW Executive Vice President Nick Jackson. Furthermore, feelings are said to be “very bad right now” between NJPW and AEW, even though AEW World Champion Chris Jericho is set to work the Wrestle Kingdom 14 show from the Tokyo Dome in January, as he has a separate contract. There’s no word yet on if Jon Moxley will work WK14, but there’s still a few months before the show.
Omega ended up teaming with AEW Women’s Champion Riho to defeat Miyu Yamash-ta and Antonio Honda at DDT’s Ultimate Party 2019 event from Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
As seen below, it looks like Omega made a reference to the travel issues in a tweet he made last weekend.
He wrote, “Somehow, I’ve made it. See you all soon. #DDTUP”
