When Kurt Angle got announced as the headliner for the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame class, questions arose about if he would wrestle for the company. He still competes around the country and in the United Kingdom, so he can still step into the ring at age 47. Given Angle’s injury history, though, you’d expect WWE to be cautious about bringing him back into the fold.
Well, it seems that Angle is going to wrestle for WWE at some point. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that that are plans for this to happen in the near future. However, the report doesn’t state when exactly.
If true, could this mean Angle is going to compete at WrestleMania 33? The match card looks like it’s being stacked already, as Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar, Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho, Bray Wyatt defending the WWE Championship, Roman Reigns vs. Undertaker, and potentially Triple H vs. Seth Rollins have all been teased or added. Where would the former Olympic Gold Medalist fit into all of this then?
If not WrestleMania, maybe WWE brings Angle in for SummerSlam. That way a fresh feud can be created for him that wouldn’t be rushed, if they brought him in now. There could always be a curveball thrown with a return after the Show of Shows too, setting up a match for one of the post-pay-per-views like Payback or Extreme Rules.
