Following last night’s shocking title change at an WWE Live event from Madison Square Garden(MSG), AJ Styles is now the new WWE United States Champion. Owens & Styles were set to go one-on-one at WWE Battleground on July 23rd. Styles earned that opportunity by winning the Independence Day Battle Royal during the July 4th edition of SmackDown Live.
Since “The Phenomenal One’s” capturing of the US Title, the match is no longer on WWE’s match card for the Battleground PPV.
