This led to SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan and SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahonmaking Owens vs. Styles for SummerSlam with Shane as the special referee.

– Rusev vs. Randy Orton is now official for SummerSlam. Following Rusev’s win over Chad Gableon SmackDown tonight.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated John Cena in the main event of tonight’s WWE SmackDown to become the new #1 contender to WWE Champion Jinder Mahal.
