Alex Singleton on the Broncos defense: ‘We don’t want to suck”

Good morning, Broncos Country!

When it comes to the Denver Broncos, it’s all about the quarterback.

That’s been the case since Peyton Manning retired almost a decade ago. Shoot me now.

While Broncos Country hopes the quarterback carousel can be packed with dynamite and exploded now that Bo Nix is in the fold, the defense needs to improve in 2024.

The Broncos defense had its flashes last season, but for the most part, it wasn’t very good. Now Justin Simmons is no longer at safety, and there’s still a question at edge and middle linebacker.

All of that led linebacker Alex Singleton to lay out the goal for his unit in 2024:

“We don’t want to suck,” he said to ESPN earlier this month.

With Nix mostly likely being the starting quarterback this season, a better and more consistent defense will help him and Denver a lot. And while the playoffs could be a stretch for the team this season, especially with this schedule, the better the defense plays, the better the Broncos will be.

Here’s hoping Singleton’s goal comes to fruition this season.
