Arthur Rinderknech throws brutal shade on Taylor Fritz ahead of Wimbledon match

on

Arthur Rinderknech is spicing up his upcoming Wimbledon meeting versus Taylor Fritz as the Frenchman took a shot at the American, saying that the American probably won’t have anything to “whine about” this time.

If you remember well, world No. 76 Rinderknech and 12th-ranked Fritz had a pretty heated and tense meeting at the French Open last year. To no one’s surprise, the French Open crowd was entirely on Rinderknech’s side during that match but the issue was that Fritz felt they were crossing the line numerous times and he complained to the umpire several times.

But in the end, Fritz managed to overcome Rinderknech and the crowd after sealing a 2-6 6-4 6-3 6-4 win. After the match, Fritz thought he would have the last laugh so he decided to shush the French Open crowd before throwing some shade on them.

“I love you guys. The crowd was just so great that I had to let it fire me up. They cheered so well for me, I wanted to make sure I won. Thanks,” Fritz told the French Open crowd sarcastically after beating Rinderknech at Roland Garros.

Rinderknech ahead of playing Fritz: He whined…

After completing a five-set win over 2014 US Open finalist Kei Nishikori on Wednesday, Rinderknech will be back in action to take on No. 13 seed Fritz.

“The atmosphere will be quieter (than at Roland-Garros) and he won’t cry as much. He whined a bit saying it was too noisy. I hold no grudge against him, but he was wrong if he thought the French crowd would send him kisses in between points,” Rinderknech told Quentin Moynet of L’Equipe.

When Rinderknech, 28, and 26-year-old Fritz meet today, it will be their second meeting. Since the match will be played on grass – which is definitely a surface that suits better Fritz’s game – the American undoubtedly enters the match as the favorite.

However, it will be interesting to see if there will be any drama during the match or if Rinderknech can upset Fritz.
