Brody King, Lio Rush and Mark Briscoe comment after Forbidden Door injury scares

@AEW

With 15 matches on the card — and one of them a six-man ladder match, a few people were bound to come out of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door banged up.

We haven’t heard any official reports of serious injuries, but there were a few scary moments. Fortunately, in a few cases comments from the performers involved lead us to believe they won’t be missing much time as a result of the bumps they took at Long Island’s UBS Arena last night (June 30).

New Japan posted a clip of the Brainbuster Tomohiro Ishii gave House of Black’s Brody King on the Zero Hour pre-show that caused some concern. But Tony Khan said that the big man would be “okay” during the post-show media scrum, and King’s joking response hopefully means that’s right.

During the aforementioned TNT Title Ladder Match, Lio Rush was on the receiving end of a couple painful-looking spots, including twice being put through ladders…

… and while there’s no word on a specific injury, Rush was pulled from his scheduled date on Thursday with independent promotion Beyond Wrestling:

Despite that, Lio says he’s “good”:

Mark Briscoe is no stranger to ladder matches, and coming up short while attempting to splash soon-to-be new TNT champion Jack Perry through a table from a ladder in the ring isn’t the first time something’s gone awry in one of them for the Ring of Honor legend.

But while carrying on a running gag from his must-see interviews with The Conglomeration, Briscoe points out this one wasn’t entirely on him…

The reigning ROH World champ doesn’t say he has a clean bill of health, but we assume he wouldn’t be telestrating what went wrong if he had a broken breastbone.

The word of the day is, “phew”.
