In a recent interview with ESPN, UFC star turned pro-wrester Cain Velasquez spoke about his WWE debut on the premiere episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX. Velasquez reveals that he spoke with former superstar CM Punk, who advised the 37-year old to be a team player for the company. He also states that he spoke with fellow MMA fighter Travis Browne, who has appeared alongside his wife Ronda Rousey in WWE.
Talking with Punk and Browne:
CM Punk, I talked to. I talked to Travis [Browne] a little bit. In the beginning, when I started thinking of getting into [wrestling], talking to him, he was really happy with what Ronda [Rousey] was doing. He had really positive stuff to say about working with WWE. [Daniel Cormier] is obviously the ultimate fan. He’s the ultimate fan and (has) great insight. He’s all for it.
What CM Punk said to him:
He said, ‘As far as getting into it, you just gotta be a team player’ and ‘We’re all working together as a company to better ourselves. Come to the end of the day, it’s business as well. You just have to be okay with what you have and what you’re being compensated for in order to go out and perform.’ I think what I’m doing is fun as shit. I’m having a blast.
